The Chanel-inspired jacket
I love jackets.
For more years than I can count jackets have been my all-purpose go-to clothing
item to dress up anything.
In particular I love vintage jackets and men’s jackets. Before writing this book
I never thought much about owning a Chanel jacket. I never coveted one.
But a little knowledge can be a dangerous thing. The more I researched, the more
I poured over the stupendous collections of Mademoiselle, as she was called, the
more I wanted one. But we live in difficult times, and good Chanel jacket, even
a vintage one, can set you back a few grand, easy.
I searched for my perfect jacket in LA, New York, Paris and of course, e-Bay,
with no luck. Nothing I could afford I liked and nothing I liked was in my price
range. Then one day it hit me – I could make my own, which is what Chanel
herself would have done.
